DeltaVisor

Getting started

From a signup form to a watcher delivering email, in about ten minutes.

Creating your account

Signup asks for a name and an email address and nothing else. There is no password field, deliberately: you choose a password after you have proved you can open the inbox, so nobody ever sets one for an address they do not control.

  1. Go to app.deltavisor.com and enter your name and work email.
  2. We email a six-digit code. Enter it on the next screen.
  3. Choose a password. Eight characters minimum.

Until the address is confirmed, that setup screen is the whole app. If you close the tab part-way, signing in again returns you to the step you were on.

The code did not arrive. Check spam, then use Resend the code on the same screen. Codes expire; a fresh one always works. If the address itself was wrong, sign up again with the right one.

Your organization

Every account belongs to an organization, and one is created for you at signup from your name. If you work alone you can ignore it entirely.

The organization owns three things: the plan, the properties you activate, and the team roster. That is why a property activated by one person is available to everybody on the account, and why activations are counted per organization rather than per person. Renaming it, or inviting anybody, is covered under Team and organization.

Choosing a plan

The map, search, watchers and properties all need an active plan. Without one you land on the plan picker rather than on a screen full of locked controls.

Plans differ by two dials: how many watchers you can run, and how many properties you can activate each month. Every plan sees every region and every signal, so there is no feature matrix to study. The current numbers are on the billing page and on pricing.

Solo comes with a free trial. Your card goes on file and nothing is charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. A trial has its own, smaller activation allowance, because it is meant to demonstrate the product rather than to be a month of it.

The first three things worth doing

In order, because each one answers a question the next one assumes.

  1. Check your ground is covered. Open the Map and use the coverage box: type a city, an address or a ZIP, or press the locate button. The answer names the region and lists which signals are live there. See checking coverage.
  2. Activate one address you already know well. Search it, then activate. Because you know the property, you can see immediately what we hold and what we do not, which is worth more than reading about it. It arrives watched, so anything that happens there from now on reaches you in the property digest. See activating a property.
  3. Build one watcher, narrow. One region, two or three signals. You get a first digest covering the last week straight away, so you find out what the daily email will look like without waiting a day. See building a watcher.

A watcher set to everything, everywhere is the common first mistake. It produces a digest too long to read and teaches you nothing about which signals matter to you. Start tight and widen it, which takes one edit.

Bringing your team in

If your plan has more than one seat, invite people from the Team page. They get an email with a link; a colleague who already has a DeltaVisor account signs in to accept, and a new one sets a name and password on the invitation screen itself.

Watchers belong to the person who made them. Properties belong to the organization. So two people on one account see the same property history and different watcher lists, which is usually what you want: a roofing estimator and a business developer watch different things over the same ground.

Where to go next

The four pages that cover the product itself are Properties, Watchers, The daily digest and The map. If something is already not behaving, start at Troubleshooting.
