The plans
Every plan sees every region and every signal. There is no tier that hides a county or a data type from you, which is why the cards compare a small number of dials rather than a feature matrix.
| Current plans | See pricing | Live numbers load here. The plan picker inside the app shows the same figures against your account. |
|---|
Annual is the monthly rate times ten, so a year committed is two months free. Caps and features are identical on both intervals, and you can switch between them.
What needs a plan
The map, search, properties and watchers all need an active plan. Without one you land on the plan picker rather than on a screen of controls that would fail.
Billing itself stays reachable with no plan, which is how you get one. If a subscription lapses, nothing is deleted: your watchers, your activated properties and your history are all exactly as you left them, and resubscribing brings them back.
The free trial
Solo comes with a free trial. Your card goes on file at signup and nothing is charged until the trial ends.
- The billing page shows how many days are left, the amount that will be charged, and the date.
- Cancelling before that date costs nothing at all.
- A trial has its own, smaller activation allowance. It is meant to demonstrate the product rather than to be a month of it, and it is separate from the paid number rather than a share of it.
Everything else during a trial is the full product: every region, every signal, real watchers delivering real email.
The activation allowance
Two things are metered, and everything else is included.
- Watchers
- How many standing watches you can keep. The cap is per person rather than pooled across the organization.
- Property activations
- How many properties your organization can open in full. Counted per organization, because an activated property is shared by everybody on the account.
What spends an activation is a property becoming new to your organization. That is the whole rule, and these follow from it:
- Re-opening one you already hold is free, always. Not just for you, for everybody on the account, and the holding never expires. There is no per-view charge.
- A failed gather is not charged. If a region times out or goes unreachable, nothing is spent, and pressing Activate again retries.
- An activation you did not cause work for is still charged. If another customer already gathered that property, we serve what was collected. What is being bought is the assembled view of one place rather than the outbound requests.
- Browsing costs nothing. Every covered region, day by day, as far back as we hold, on every plan. Watching a property, marking it and un-marking it, is also free.
How many you have left is shown under the Activate button, on the control that spends it, so nobody learns the number by being refused.
When the allowance renews
Every month, back to the full number. The month runs from the day your subscription started rather than from the first of the calendar month, so a plan begun on the 12th renews on the 12th. A month in which you open twelve properties leaves you at twelve, and the next one starts at zero.
On a monthly plan that is the same date as your invoice, and Billing shows the current period. On an annual plan the allowance still renews every month on that date; the interval you chose changes when you pay, not how much you may open.
Unused activations do not roll over. The cap is a ceiling on bulk extraction rather than a ration you are spending down, so there is nothing to bank. It is set well above what ordinary diligence uses in a month, and if you are regularly hitting it, a plan change is the cheaper answer than saving them up.
What renews is the allowance, not the properties. Everything you have already activated stays yours permanently: it does not expire at the end of a month, it does not count against the next one, and opening it again is free forever. The number that resets is only how many new places you may open.
If you reach the limit before the month is out and need more, talk to us. We can raise an individual account without waiting for a plan change or a renewal date.
A trial does not work this way. It has its own smaller number for its whole length, because a trial is one demonstration rather than a month you are renting.
Changing plan
From Billing, use Change plan.
- Upgrades are immediate and prorated. The new caps apply as soon as the payment goes through.
- Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period, so you keep what you paid for. The billing page shows a Scheduled change panel naming the plan and the date it takes effect.
- Properties you have activated stay yours through any change, including a downgrade and including a cancellation and resubscription.
After checkout, the plan takes a few seconds to become active while the payment is confirmed. The page waits for it rather than telling you that you have no plan. If it is still finalising after fifteen seconds, reloading picks it up.
Invoices and payment
Manage in Stripe on the billing page opens the customer portal, which is where invoices, receipts, card details and the billing address live. Everything to do with the payment method itself is there.
The billing page itself shows the current period, the projected next invoice with its line items, the account balance, and whether a payment method is on file. A negative balance is credit and reads as credit.
A past due badge means a payment failed. Update the card in the Stripe portal; the retry happens automatically after that.
Cancelling
Cancel is on the billing page, and it asks first. What happens depends on where you are.
- During a trial
- The trial stops and nothing is charged. The button says Cancel before charge for exactly that reason.
- On a paid plan
- The plan stops and the unused part of the period is refunded. The product surfaces return to the no-plan state.
Cancelling does not delete anything. Your watchers stay configured, your activated properties stay yours, and resubscribing at any time brings all of it back. Digests stop while there is no active plan.
If you want the account itself removed rather than just the subscription, email [email protected].
Other ways an account has a plan
The badge on the billing page occasionally says Internal or Granted rather than Active or Trial. Those are accounts we have opened by hand: a pilot, an evaluation, or our own. There is no subscription behind them, so there is nothing to cancel or manage, and the page shows the date access runs to where one is set.
More than the self-serve plans
More watchers, more activations, more seats, or changes delivered into your own systems by webhook rather than by email: that is Enterprise, and it is a conversation rather than a checkout. Get in touch and say roughly what you need to cover.
